Solution description

Robotics has become an indispensable part of modern manufacturing systems. In addition to conventional tray picking requirements suitable for SCARA robots, there are also system solutions for production materials, that are delivered in bulk. This is usually realized including flexible 6-axis robots in combination with camera technologies. Movements are thus possible in the entire 3D environment and open a broad field of (new) applications.

In the given example, aluminum protective caps are conveyd into the correct assembly position. A 6-axis robot from ABB and inserts the parts separately into the production system. The required order/request of new production materials takes place at or in the plant itself. This provides the advantage for the manufacturers to having production materials delivered in a disordered and thus inexpensive way. We selected an ABB IRB 1200-5 / 0.9. Due to the given layout of the production system, a cycle time of five seconds was completely sufficient. A level monitoring of the crate completes the fully automated application for the contractor.
